| Description | This study deals with some specific properties of the element anti- in Spanish which are generally uncharacteristic of prefixal morphemes, but which can be found, to some extent, also in other prepositional and quantitative prefixes (such as pro-, inter-, multi-, bi-, etc.). In the first part (the present article), we focus on the supposed ability of anti- to change the category of the base (N > A) in certain constructions (e.g. tabaco N > antitabaco A) and we examine the principal alternative solutions to the theoretical problem of transcategorial prefixes in Spanish. |
