Description Although the information is implicitly perceived by broad professional public as the main subject of interest of information science, opinions are far from uniform. Different approaches to the interests of information science are presented and alternative subjects of information science are explored. Attention is paid to some confusion borne by the phenomenon of information. These include the uncertainty around information unit to which aspire bits, signs and situations. This results in description of the problem with logical identity of information phenomenon in different spheres of reality. In accordance with Capurro trilemma and in relation to the Unified theory of information horizontal and vertical boundaries of the phenomenon of information are determined. Finally, information science, information sciences and science of information are differentiated.
