Description The landscape of Jáchymov (St. Joachimsthal) became the centre of attention of world powers and the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic after the 2nd World War II. This region was the place of world exclusivity - uranium mining. Jáchymov was the only place where the Soviet Union could immediately obtain uranium ore and begin developing nuclear weapons. This situation has brought massive changes to the landscape of Jáchymov associated with the development of mining industries and the need of labour force. Based on research in the field and especially in archives, we present the whole complex as mining system passing through several phases. Model of mining system contains the main objects and their relationships. The functional mining region of Jáchymov is defined in this article.
