Description | During bryological research in the Krkonoše/Karkonosze Mts (Giant Mts), we visited 17 grassland enclaves in the forested landscape matrix below the timberline. We focused especially on sloping meadow springs, fen meadows, stream and brook banks. Other habitats were almost free of bryophytes, because of the closed canopy of the herb layer. The localities Brádlerovy Boudy, Klínové Boudy, Liščí louka, Medvědí Boudy, Mokré Jámy, Studniční Boudy, Velké Tippeltovy Boudy, and Zadní Rennerovy Boudy were the most diverse, with the occurence of more rare species, because of the presence of more microhabitats. Of the 129 recorded bryophyte species, 28 were liverworts and 101 mosses. The most interesting records – Aneura maxima, Calypogeia fissa, Campylium stellatum, Sphagnum inundatum, Sphagnum subnitens, Sphagnum warnstorfii – are briefly described. |
