Description The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of the effects of work stress and ways of coping with the performance of the police profession in relation to four key areas: the impact on the individual himself, his family, employers and the wider public. Attention was paid to the conflict between work and family spheres, for the use of quantitative research design. The following instruments were used: SVF 78 (Janke and Erdman, 2002), Meisterův questionnaire assessment of workload (1987) and the Questionnaire work-family conflict (Carlson, Perrewé, 1999), which were administered in 209 probands. The results indicated a possible link with the investigated phenomena in the context of practice and a number of other significant facts.
