Description The research study examines the analysis of gender differences in the results of wide giftedness screening on preschol children by CGS method. Screening was attended by 807 children ( 85 % of all preschoolers ) from 18 nursery schools under the control of the municipality Hradec Králové , CGS was filled by their classroom teacher. The results show that, according to teachers, we can expect the upcoming school year 35 first-graders with exceptional intellectual giftedness, representing 4% of preschoolers. Method nominated approximately twice the number of gifted children than expected in the population (according to the principle of Gaussian normal distribution). The analysis of gender differences showed that in this screening appears to be a generally more gifted girls. The resulting difference can be put into the context of the generally faster maturation of girls with different brain development (girls‘ brains are predisposed to better performance associated with speech and fine motor skills, which is the core of school readiness), and last but not least, with family stereotypes (the fact is that the evaluators were women and author of screening methods is also female). These hypotheses, however, need further examination.
