Description | In Old Czech, when pronominal quantifiers with the with formant "vš-" (všě, všickni...) appear in the vicinity of negation markers, they are usually interpreted out of its scope. That, however, should not be considered a violation of negative concord. On the material of three Old Czech texts – Dalimil's Chronicle, Legend of St. Procopius and Spor duše s tělem – I will show the use of negation and pronominal quantifiers in 14th century Old Czech, and offer a few possible accounts for this phenomenon. |
