| Description | Squirrel in medieval art world does not appear too often in a tiled relief then very rarely. So far, the only known evidence in our countries is thus three different variants of one motif in finding file from the 2nd third to half of the 15th centuries of Moravian sites. Relief composition consists of a pair of even-toed ungulates probably ibex (mountain goats), feeding on leaves of the tree , in which the crown sits squirrel holding in the front paws fruit resembling an acorn. The proposed interpretation of the iconography is based on the positive symbolism of squirrel with fruit (nut) in the sense of seeking God's truth established in mulberry associated with wisdom. |
