Description | The chapter analyses life of young adults with profound disabilities with regard to education, intervention and therapy offered in social services institutions. It defines the term profound disability and its impact on adult life. Further it outlines the area of comprehensive care, namely occupational therapy and therapies used within special education (e.g. hipotherapy). We also introduce the topic of accompanying of children, young adults and adults with profound disabilities in institutional care and social services quality benchmark, including professional competence of social workers. The chapter offers outcomes of researches in the field (social therapeutical workshops, sheltered living, leisure time, social services qualitybenchmark). |
