Citation
Description The contribution presented two corpuses of correspondence created at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (KSKdopisy, mapping the correspondence at the turn of the 20th century and KSK111, including the correspondence from the years 1902 - 2012) as a valuable source of material for lexicological and lexicographical research. Results of hitherto carried out vocabulary-orientated analyses of KSKdopisy were included (e.g. Hladká, Z. & Martincová, O., Slova v soukromých dopisech. Lexikografická sonda. /Words in private correspondence, A probe into lexicography. Brno: Masarykova univerzita, 2012), with the main focus being nevertheless on present-day research of KSK111 vocabulary. Using examples from this material, several tendencies in the development of Czech vocabulary throughout the 20th century were demonstrated. The focus was especially on the dynamism of vocabulary typical of the particular genre (hypocorisms from the proprial as well as appellative spheres, qualitative diminutives, occasional words etc.), dealing also with more general issues, e.g. with aspects of the development of relationships among the categories neutral/ bookish/archaic.
