Description The aim of our research was the validation of projective method called The Fantasy Animal Game. We assumed, that this therapeutic method could have diagnostic potential and that personality would be projected in the drawing and the story. Our research question was, whether there is a relationship between the signs in the picture and story and personality traits. In the drawing part a proband drew an animal from his imagination that he/she had never seen, and then he made up a story for the drawn picture. We had developed a scoring systems for both pictures and stories and we correlated (Spearman's correlation coefficient) them with results of TCI-R personality questionnaire. Data was collected at three elementary schools and one gymnasium (n = 76, age m = 12.87) in Slovakia. Correlations (p <0.05) ranged from ± 0.28 to ± 0.46. We found that all temperament dimension (Novelty seeking, Harm avoidance, Reward dependence, Persistence) and one character dimension (Cooperation) correlates significantly with all signs in The Fantasy Animal Game. Fraction of significant correlations in picture signs was significant in categories Picture change, Movement and Form and in story part it was significant in category Signs relating to character. Our hypothesis was partially confirmed. This new method could be once a useful complementary technique to identify personality traits.
