| Description | Václav Hájek z Libočan's Czech Chronicle written in the middle of the 16th century become an influence for the next generation of writers. This book was said to include uncertain or false information and myths about the Czech history. First Saints in Czech country were attractive for the first generation of romanticism. Saint Ivan for his connection with Slavic dark past. There are only the rests of the rewriting legends drawn from the times of the Great Moravian's Old Slavonic Church about Ivan. Those inspired Hájek. During the next baroque and romantic period Hájek's Czech chronicle still remains very popular. As a character is Saint Ivan also known from the work Život svatého Ivana poustevníka of baroque writer Fridrich Bridel. When there are uncertain information about the past a romantic poet could use his imagination or fantasy. František Alexander Rokos dreams about the brave Czech Dark Age in his poem Ívan are inspired by Hájek's stories. |
