Description The paper summarizes the literature view on strategic management and outlines results of research focusing on perception of public servants of Czech regional self-government on the role, achieved benefits and barriers of strategic management implementation. The respondents perceived particularly benefits of strategic planning (better priorities), rather than improvements in other aspects of strategic management. Replies of respondents also indicated possible issues of internal communication of strategic management as well as lower inclusion of external stakeholders.
