Description Starting From the fertile reflections of the early twentieth century by Arnold Van Genep on Rites of passage, the intervention offers a general reflection on the late antique architecture liminal spaces. The particular case study, the Roman basilica of Santa Sabina, can check - crossing historical data, liturgical, archaeological, historical and artistic elements - the validity of this hermeneutics key. The conference wants to stimulate the reflection in the broadest sense about the importance of the concept of liminal zone for the art-historical studies.
