Description The monograph summarizes the results of a research project Ready to ask? GAP407/11/0426. The publication has 12 chapters that present answers to important research questions that were addressed in the context of a major research topic: information behavior of (gifted) children from pre-literacy stage. The publication is divided into two parts. The first section briefly summarizes the theoretical knowledge of the major thematic areas: information behavior, communication, questions, giftedness and intelligence. The second part presents the results of research in the form of three sub-studies. The common goal of the presented research is to describe the information behavior of children from preliteracy stage. As a key element it was picked up the topic of questions. All three studies presented deal with different aspects and consequences of this crucial phenomenon. The first study deals with information behavior of children of preschool age in its natural form: the everyday-life-information-behaviour ( elib ) . The study answers three questions: What interests preschool children? Where do preschoolers get information about what interests them? How vary information behavior of preschool children, depending on the level of intelligence? The second study examines the core capability of information behavior, the ability to formulate a question. The aim of this study is to answer the basic question: What is the readiness of children to ask questions? and consider: How does this differ depending on the children's intelligence? The third study decided to focus on ELIB in the everyday reality of the educational process. The study provides a fresh analysis of the occurrence of questions in school practice from the first grade to the fourth year of high school. The data source is the corpus SCHOLA2010 . The final chapter provides a summary of the findings and some suggestions for the future.
