Description	The publication focuses on the legal aspects of public licences in the Czech legal order. After a general introduction to copyright, attention is paid to the contract formation, public licences and Creative Commons licences. In special part the issues connected with use of public licences in academic practice, in software distribution and finally in the use of public sector information are presented.
