| Description | The author of the present study demonstrates the influence of Matija Murko upon Czech literary criticism. His reception was easier because he was a man of German language and culture, but at the same time sensitively understood the complicatedness of Slavonic-German relations; he was interested in Russian inspiration (Alexander Veselovsky) creating in the Czech environment a silent developmental methodological alternative to more popular functionalism. This left its positive vestiges even in the period after 1945 and 1948. |
