Description The text type 'private letter' as a basic form of written communication draws in the context of the highly differentiated correspondence culture the increasing attention of the contemporary research. This text type is a matter of interest for text linguistic research as a culturally specific type of interaction, that is materialized in texts. Linguistic of emotions as a specific research area considers these texts as a social phenomenon. The comparison of correspondence Lichnowsky-Hofmannsthal makes it possible to explain the question of specific text inherent qualities and parameters - emotion potential - that evoke emotional processes and activate emotional states. The comparison of two types of historical material exemplifies moreover the historical text type differentiation.
