Citation
Description For certain part of the population, graphic design is still tainted by its close ties with the world of vulgar commerce and advertising. City streets are flooded with primitive giant adverts and letters boxes overflow with equally obtrusive leaflets. It is no wonder that the public tends to view graphic design as a somewhat murky craft. Nonetheless, there are more and more designers whose work is dedicated to critical practice (using graphic design tools, they comment on topical social events) and who also actively seek projects with social impact that can be enhanced by their professionalism. Pavel Noga in his lecture will first present various examples of critical thinking and socially engaged design, as well as projects of this kind executed at universities, both in this country and beyond its borders. The second part will include a workshop the subject of which will follow the lecture.
