Description One of the most common approach nowadays is to try to eliminate the first language in the foreign language learning process, whereas the question should be how to use L1 properly, especially in monolingual groups with their own characteristics and needs. The main purpose of this paper is to point out how to effectively use the knowledge of the students' first language by teacher (based on teaching Czech students) using modern and communicative methodology. Is it worth to re-consider translation in language learning?
