Description This paper focuses on the issue of the sources of the past in the frame of study of contemporary history of education in Czechoslovakia. The authors asked ourselves which sources the historian of education can use, if he decides to examine contemporary history of education. This question authors trying to follow especially in the context of primary education in the former South Moravian Region in 1969-1989. Although resource for understanding the history of socialist education is a relatively large amount, but so far known and available resources cover only some parts of school life and school life actors. Oral history presents an important part of the historical and educational research, which enables complex and sometimes only possible knowledge of everyday school reality (practice) in the recent past.
