Citation
Description The main topic of this article, dealt with by the author, is the extent to which Czech anthroponyms occurring in Hájek's Czech Chronicle (Kronika česká) correspond with naming habits of the period to which they are placed. Attention is paid especially 1) to the confrontation of anthroponyms occurring in Hájek's chronicle with names historically documented from the particular period and 2) to the comparison of Hájek's anthroponyms with authentic historically documented Old Czech anthroponyms. The research proved that Hájek, when describing the particular periods, used authentic Old Czech names (Chotěslav) or other Slavonic names (Polish Dolebor) that served as a specimen for creating fictional names, thus moving authentic Old Czech anthroponyms far away to the past. The ancient character of names in Hájek's chronicle was evoked especially by bases of anthroponyms that were in Czech used only seldom or were not used at all (Horboj, Bloboj).
