Description | This paper deals with the question, how can the quasi-logic elements reinforce the acceptability of arguments presented. It is based on the assumption that quasi-logical arguments as representing in the work of The New Rhetoric: A Treatise on Argumentation by Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca cannot be considered as a single type of argument, but they are rather a set of the various strategies that can in specific ways contribute to the acceptability of standpoint: given the stage of the argument, in which they are used, and the strategic role that they can fulfill at this stage. Concrete examples of these strategies are identified in the paper, and conditions under which use of the quasi-logical strategy is advantageous for speaker are analyzed. |
