Description The Faculty of Economics and Administration at MU is currently working on a research project, using data from the Public Tenders Information System to detect bid-rigging. This research is to use advanced statistics and econometrics methods to detect clues on cartel behaviour of the bidders. This research could be of high interest to the National Competition Authority as it could lead to bid-rigging detection and new cases. Such mechanisms are already being used (for example in South Korea) and bring excellent results. Such mechanism also brings up several important legal problems that need to be solved before such system can be applied. Such problems include the protection of business secrets, information exchange, access and licensing of research data, databases and results. International comparison of the proposed mechanism can help set up realistic expectations on the results of the application in Czech legal system.
