Description | Interpretative, "folkloristic" point of view may result in speculations on the layer of the "original" Sami proverbs, namely short - one or two sentences long - stories with a mythological plot and lack of advice or example for one's behavior. It is even disputable, whether these stories should be considered as proverbs, although they have been included in the greatest Sami proverb collections. In other group, there are proverbs with both probably specific Sami sense and form and borrowed proverbs that have been adapted for Sami needs and other contexts. The particularity might be seen in animal motives together with expressed attitudes to members of the surrounding majority and in the range of values. |
