Description | The paper presents results of the ongoing research of Oldřich Šimáček's scenography. Its objective is to describe and analyse Šimáček's artwork. The paper focuses on Oldřich Šimáček's individual style and his collaboration with Jiří Svoboda, a director at the Oldřich Stibor Theatre in Olomouc. They formed a specific tandem and created thirty-eight performances together. The emphasis is put on three productions of William Shakespeare's plays: Macbeth (1964), Measure for Measure (1965) and As You Like It (1966). The topic is treated from the historical perspective. Also political aspects and aspects of local and global perspectives in theatre-making are observed. |
