Description The term self-regulated learning is becoming an important pedagogical-psychological topic and individual self-regulation skills or competences are gradually inserting themselves among the key terms of educational proposals. This paper shows, that a high rate of self-regulation of students does not necessarily bring just positive effects in the school environment. It shows that some self-regulation skills increase the rate of some types of students' cheating. For those types there are some differences between men and women. The results of this study are based on a quantitative study of a random sample of 346 high school students in Brno collected using a questionnaire. The division of self-regulated learning and cheating into individual dimensions, performed using factor analysis, allowed for a more detailed study of the influences between these variables.
