Description | The author of the present article deals with the shift of emphasis in the study of Central Europe. He accentuates its historical development, its role of the contradictory transitive area, but also a potential bridge overcoming contradictions, and demonstrates the shift towards its personalistic aspect. Central Europe should be demythized; it is not the return to monarchy or, in general, to the past, just the opposite: to provide it with the truthful dimension, not to exploit the notion itself for expansionistic purposes, to construct Central Europe as heterogeneous, pluralistic cultural and political space which absorbs everything stimulating from all countries, the tolerant space which is able to listen even to irresistibly minority voices and to make Europe‘s face synthetic and conciliatory. |
