Description The paper deals with the activation of former members of guerrilla resistance in the first year after the World War 2, namely on the specific example of county branch of the Union of Slovak partisans in Prievidza. Focus is being directed mainly to the attempts of partisans to create their own organization of resistance fighters. But their efforts to influence and affect the post-war Slovak society are not left behind as well. First months after the war meant for the former guerrilla fighters mainly the period of formation and building of their own organization – Union of Slovak partisans. Only after this step they could intensify their activities, which led from the initial aid for their comrades-in-arms to establish themselves in postwar society, to various political objectives in accordance with the line of Communist Party. Although the former guerrillas used to point out dozens of people, according to them guilty in different ways during the war, one could find a considerable amount of individuals, destroying the reputation of this group of resistance fighters, also among them. Either way, the year 1945 represented the beginning of a new era, an era in which partisan certificate holders were increasingly able to draw the attention of society to their requests and to influence it towards the fulfillment of their objectives.
