Description During World War II several partisan units, whether in the form of smaller groups or more numerous brigades, were established in Slovakia. II. Slovak Partisan Brigade of Gen. M. R. Štefánik, operating mainly in the years 1944-1945 in the territory of Turiec, belonged undoubtedly to the most famous ones. Its members engaged not only in front-line fighting during the Slovak National Uprising, but also in diversionary operations after its suppression. Thereby they made an indelible mark in the history of anti-Nazi resistance in Slovakia. This popularization article aims to provide the reader with main information on the establishment and activities of this partisan unit from the period of World War II.
