| Description | The author of the present article deals with the conceptions of area studies in relation to the character of the international organisation of Slavists (suffering from etatism) analysing various pitfalls of contemporary state of area studies, e. g. its unclear boundaries, the initial phasis of the formation of its methodology etc. He accentuates the Brno conception which arose in the 1990s on the basis of the philological kernel and its transcendences towards social sciences, the gradual formation of its methodology and the principle of continuity. |
