Citation
Description The author of the present article describes the poetological features of the "non-historical novel" by Evgeny Vodolazkin (born 1964) Lavr (Laurel, 2013, 2014) including the axiological role of Old Church Slavonic as a tool of revitalization of medieval concepts of time and the permeation of temporal strata finally leading to the annulment of time as a cognitive category. The aesthetic and axiological function of medieval literary texts demonstrates the man's way to eternity. The specific “non-historical novel” is one of the genre types experimenting with the patterns of historical and historiosophic novels, sponging on them and, at the same time, transforming and modifying them. The position of this genre tendency in the future can hardly be precisely anticipated at the very moment.
