Citation
Description The contribution was focused on the early work of the stage director and scenographer Petr Lébl. The authorial production of The Tauridus - Images and Etudes from the life of the rococo society, stands as a perfect example where is mirrored Lébl's distincitive poetics, which incorporated strongly pronounced artistic theatre style to the Czech theatrological ambience of the second half of the 80's. The play was released on the September 29th, 1985, performed by the amateur theatre "Jak se vám jelo". The Tauridus play deals with well-known historical events concerning the Russian Empress Catherine II. The Great and her lover and coregent Grigorij Alexandrovich Potemkin. Within this performance, we are witnesses of Lébl's effort to cope with both, decorative artistic style of the eighteenth century as well as with Potemkin himself, his Crimean anabasis and with the confrontation of these historical events with the present time.
