Description In the Czech lands, the terms folk culture and the stage have been used together for two centuries. In the present article, the authors follow the journey of folklore traditions on stage, as well as many aspects which are connected with this shift. The stage presentations of Czech folk traditions have resisted pathos; what was strong and has remained till these days are romanticized and estheticized treatments Among people interested in folk culture, some stage performances are understood as manifestations of traditional culture, and a similar impact is observed in some regions concerning folk dress.
