Description | The Czech Language Certificate Exam has been prepared in line with the principles of good practice and the standards of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe). A long-term project of monitoring the quality of the exams has its origin in the tensions between the real situation and constraints, and the effort to meet the principles of ethics, fairness and best practice in language testing. This paper will present the situation and constraints of the exam development and the ways howthat test developers pursue its quality. It will follow a presentation of the continuous standard- setting method that enables test developers to assemble equivalent test versions, and that includes expert judgement and training, the concept of the minimally competent candidate, statistical analyses, and the process of validation. |
