Description The study focuses on Album, Bibliothek der deutsche Originalromane beliebtesten Schriftsteller, the name of an imprint published between 1847 and 1862-1871 by Prague publisher Ignaz Leopold Kober and his colleagues H. Markgraf (in Vienna, Prague and Tabor), K. Jeřábková (in Prague), and J. E. Günther (in Leipzig). Of particular interest from the perspective of Czech studies and German-Czech studies is Kober’s selection of German-language authors, the focus on certain themes and genres, and also a comparison of the state of contemporary Czech and domestic German-language literary production in the 1850s and 1860s.
