Description | In this workshop we will be discussing how emotions influence – positively and negatively – foreign language learning. In a series of reflection tasks, the participants will be able to investigate their own awareness of their feelings as well as that of others and then compare. Even though we do not often acknowledge that, our emotions in a certain situation provide all the information we need about it, as well as all the answers for possible future change. And as they are always there, it is possible to make a conscious choice whether to accept them and acknowledge their place in our life and our learning/ teaching process. So starting from observing our feelings, using attention as a tool to stay present and accept what is there within us, we can then apply the knowledge and change our future learning behaviour. Knowing that, we can incorporate it into our teaching techniques and approaches. Some of the areas we will explore in the workshop are fear and how to deal with it, failure and the fear of failure, motivation and self-encouragement, stepping out of comfort zone, mindfulness, taking risks, lowering anxiety, infectiousness of emotions and knowing our triggers . This workshop aims to be as practical as possible. |
