Description During our survey in Sudan (the country so far unexplored this way), we examined 10 host species (siluriform fishes) and we recovered the representatives of five dactylogyridean genera (Bagrobdella, Synodontella, Schilbetrema, Protoancylodiscoides and Quadriacanthus). Dactylogyridae of the siluriform fishes was split into two strongly supported clades: Clade A included the freshwater dactylogyrids of Neotropical region. Clade B contained parasites of siluriform fishes from three distinct geographical regions (Ethiopian, Oriental and Neotropical). Dactylogyrids of African catfishes form two separate clades: Schilbetrema, Synodontella, Bagrobdella and Protoancylodiscoides clustered as a strongly supported group together with Asiatic species (Chauhanellus, Hamatopeduncularia and Neocalceostomatoides). Quadriacanthus was found to form clade with Asiatic species Q. kobiensis and Bychowskiella pseudobagri.
