| Description | In the present contribution the author deals with the new situation which has been gradually coming into existence since the 1990s in the Czech-Slovak language-cultural relations on the basis of his own investigation and the Czech-Slovak experience. He demonstrates the outline of the historical development of Brno Slovak studies, the parallelism of Czech and Slovak, a new situation in Czech-Slovak relations and the pitfalls of Slovak studies in the Czech environment, the lack of Slovak interest in the Czech Slovak studies, a weak knowledge of the Slovaks about the Czech world and the Czechs about the Slovak world, and the immense cultural and political potentiality of the Brno Slovak studies as a challenge to both Czech and Slovak political authorities. |
