Description The presentation will look at selected aspects of William Blake’s poetry and paintings, considering his relation to the elements of the Gothic tradition, particularly in terms of his unusually provocative exploration of sexual issues which appear provocative not only in the context of Blake’s own era but also from today’s perspective. Taking into account the aspects of Blake’s distinctive philosophy, his prophetic visions and religious issues, Blake needs not to be understood as a historical personae only. His work seems to be topical and re-interpreted even these days, in the contemporary era of religious seekers, individualisation and pluralism in religions.
