Description The aim of this paper is determine, via correlation analysis the interdependence between the growth of spending on research and development and economic growth, measured by regional GDP, in individual regions of the Czech Republic. Data for the period 2002 - 2014 from the Czech Statistical Office was used. In particular, whether the support of research and development in the form of spending on it has any influence on the economic growth of the region. However, this fact has not been confirmed. And mutual correlations showed that these two indicators rather do not depend on each other and we cannot even say that one of them was a leading indicator of the latter. In addition expenditure on research and development show a considerable variation in their development.
