| Description | The goal of this paper is to introduce historic preservation as the interpretative difficulty of the conflict between the old one and the new one, the conservative one and the creative one, the static one and the dynamic one – namely on three examples from history, as well as from contemporary urbanism of city Brno. First example is concerning with demolition of gothic Kingschapel on Dominikánské náměstí in Brno, which had to move aside in 1908 because of city expansion within so called „Great development“. Second example describes reconstruction of funkcionalistic buildings in Brno. Third example introduces an actual topic – project of so called Creative Center of Brno, which wants to be a new use of the historically valuable building of former jailhouse in street Cejl, which falls into ruins nowadays. |
