Description	The article informs about the plans of the ArcLib project financed from the applied research support programme of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. First we refer to number of activities in Czech libraries that precede the ArcLib project and which ArcLib develops further. We describe the goals of the ArcLib project and expected approach to solution. One of the main goals of the project is creation of an open source solutions for logical and bit level preservation of digital documents; respecting the needs of all types of libraries in Czech Republic.
