Description | The chapter presents a small subset data considering the seasonality of hunting behaviours and possible innovation of food storage practices at Gravettian sites in the Pavlov hills. The data came from three reindeer prey excavated from Dolní Věstonice II - Western Slope and contribute towards answering questions: a) seasonal faunal mobility - reconstructed using intra-tooth oxygen, carbon and strontium isotopic measurements to determine when animals were available to hunt locally near the site; and b) season of death determined using dental cementum thin sections, which informas on actual season hunting practices. |
