Description | The paper presents partial research focusing on non-verbal meanings in the sphere of sport journalism in Czech tabloids media (including more than 220 sports articles for a period of one month); in the two most read tabloid newspapers - Blesk and Aha. The paper deals with questions of how non-verbal meanings (namely paintings) influence the style of a sports tabloid journalism and how they get involved in the process of influencing recipients. The paper shows their different uses and also accentuates the different functions that these devices perform. The most important visual element is the large format colour photograph that it should provide an authentic and credible image and it help to interpret the text. In the case of the tabloid media, photograph may change the content and meaning, context or completely mystifying to misinform readers. |
