| Description | In the following presentation I deal with situations in which people lose control over the activity. I treat these situations as something very ordinary. People are well equipped to deal with them byway of adapting themselves and improvising. I dealt with such situations in a field research into contemporary dance improvisation. In this presentation I would like to present the findings in order to criticise an Elliadean narrative of the necessity of periodic recession of the society into chaos in order to establish social order anew. This way I also support an understanding of the meaning and significance of an ambivalent Goddess of smallpox Shitala, which highlights practicality of contradictions in her symbolism and ritual performances. |
