Description This study examined the possibilities of using capillary electrophoresis-frontal analysis (CE-FA) for the characterization of drug-metal binding parameters such as formation constant (Kf) and number of binding sites. Deferiprone and iron in the Fe(III) form were selected as model system. Apparent Kf values were obtained using nonlinear regression. The results provide a more quantitative picture of how this drug binds with metal and illustrate how CE FA can be used to examine drug metal interactions.
