Description | The coupling of characters is regarded by some literary critics as a form of the stylistic device known as parallelism in the Chinese literary theory. IN this lecture, I analyzed an example of Character-Pairs in the novel Qilu deng (Lantern at Crossroads), written by Li Lüyuan in the eighteenth century. I also made reference to the so called Doubles in Western novels of the nineteenth century. |
