| Description | The study is based on the recent findings of quantitative research on curiosity, happiness and hope in the child population. The general objective of this work was to enrich the current knowledge base with the results of the analysis of qualitative data. The main objective of the study was to explore the subjects of curiosity, to uncover the sources of happiness and to understand the subjects of the personal wishes and hopes in a sample of 350 pupils of the elementary schools (aged 8 to 14 years). The results of content analysis of respondents’ answers to the open questions highlight the importance of quality of interpersonal relationships, which are amongst the main sources of happiness and personal wishes for the future. The specific content of the concept of children’s curiosity, which consists of a wide range of topics combining a thirst for knowledge on a personal and universal level, was also revealed. The findings were put into the context of the current state of knowledge and discussed with regard to their practical use. |
