| Description | Imitation (mimesis) is a basic principle of acting. Apart the field of theatre and art we can encounter it in everyday life. This is unintentional imitation, its demonstrations are usually unconscious and they are part of the process of enculturation. An imitation instinct, supported by activity of mirror neurons (G. Rizzolatti, 1996), shapes people's behavior and action since childhood. A question remains what forms an aspiring actor before he/she starts studying at a specialized school. |
